Macedonia Square

This picture shows Macedonia Square, the main square of Skopje. It is taken from the Skopje Fortress (also named Kale) and in the middle of the picture you can see the huge statue of Alexander the Great. This statue was unveiled in 2011 and I think its hugeness shows how important the role of Alexander the Great is in the Macedonian process of defining a national identity.
