This is only a very small part of the famous Alexander Nevski Cathedral, which is one of the main tourist attractions in Sofia and really impressive, mostly because of its size. It is the second largest cathedral in the Balkans and it was built in honor to the Russian soldiers, who died in the war which liberated Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule (1878).
