Plovdiv has (as well as the entire country of Bulgaria) a very eventful history with many different rulers. The traces of the different periods are especially visible in the famous old town. On this picture, you can see the Roman theatre which is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres. The picture is taken from one of hills, on which Plovdiv (also known as the City of the Seven Hills) is built.
